Jay Chase serves as President of Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions. Jay was Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting officer of MarketScout’s WC MGA since its founding in 2007. As of June 1st, 2017, MarketScout’s WC MGA has been rebranded to “Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions”. Jay and his leadership team built the organization from no premium and no policies to its current position of over $100 million of inforce premiums.
During Jay’s thirty-five years in the property casualty insurance business, he has held positions as President of Tamarack Capital Partners, a capital management and insurance services consulting firm; President of Program Resource Group of Kemper Employers Insurance Company; Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer of TIG/Transamerica Insurance Group; President of TIG Bermuda; Chairman of Indemni-Med LLC; Director of TIG RE/Odyssey Re; and Vice President of Industrial Indemnity Insurance Company.
Steve Math
Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer

Steve Math joined Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions in 2019. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), and has served in executive level positions in both Underwriting and Actuarial over an insurance career that spans more than thirty-five years. Prior to Specialty Comp, Steve served as Senior Vice President of Underwriting & Field Operations with Texas Mutual Insurance Company, the leading provider of workers’ compensation in Texas. At Texas Mutual, Steve was responsible for all underwriting, actuarial, and agency-related operations. Steve has also served as Chief Actuary at Argo Group, ACE USA, CNA–Standard Lines, and TIG Insurance Group.

Michael Beck
Senior Vice President – Underwriting

Mike Beck has served as Senior Vice President – Underwriting of Specialty Comp Insurance since 2012, after spending four years with QBE North America as Vice President Worker’s Compensation – Middle Market Manager. Mike’s thirty years in the property casualty industry include ten years with the National Council on Compensation Insurance where he served as Senior Classification Analyst and eleven years in various underwriting capacities at ACE/Chubb, Travelers Insurance Company, and Diamond Insurance Company; all specialized in workers compensation insurance.
Jeffery Farney
Vice President – Underwriting
35+ Years of P&C Experience
Jeff Farney joined Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions in 2016 where he leads our small business initiatives and serves as Vice President – Underwriting. Prior to Specialty Comp, Jeff served as Vice President and WC Program Manager with QBE North America where he managed both middle market programs and QBE’s “e”QBE small business platform. Jeff’s insurance career spans over thirty-five years. Until his move to Specialty Comp, he worked exclusively on the balance sheet (Insurance carrier or Reinsurer) side of the business. Jeff held executive or regional level positions with TIG Insurance Group, Zenith Insurance Company, Midwest Employers Casualty Company, Old Republic Reinsurance, and Kemper Insurance Company.
Matthew Feury
Vice President – Underwriting

Matt Feury, based out of Connecticut, is Vice President – Underwriting of Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions where he has served since April of 2012. He joined Specialty Comp after spending two years with QBE North America as Senior Underwriter, Wholesale Middle Market WC. Matt began his Insurance career with AIG Specialty WC in Boston MA as an underwriter trainee and underwriter, later joining ACE/Chubb as a Senior Underwriter before spending 2 years with Seabright Insurance Company in Needham, MA. For fifteen years, Matt has specialized in difficult WC underwriting assignments.
Rachael Kashow
Senior Underwriter – Middle Market Wholesale WC

Rachael Kashow is the longest serving employee of Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions other than its founder and President. Rachael began her duty with Specialty Comp as an Underwriter in 2008, moving from Wilkes-Barre, PA where she worked for Guard Insurance Company for over eight years. While at Guard, a specialty WC insurance company, Rachael held several field and home office positions including Large Business Underwriting Assistant, Small Business Classification Analyst, and Technical Analyst for the Executive Group producing management, actuarial, production, and agency management reporting for the Home Office Executive Group.

Phil Jacks is Specialty Comp’s Compliance and Premium Audit Advisory Services Manager. Phil has been with Specialty Comp since 2012, when he joined the organization after twenty years as Audit Director at Old Republic Insurance Companies where he supervised over thirty auditors. Prior to Old Republic, Phil worked for fifteen years in various audit and management capacities with Employer Casualty Company, the predecessor to Texas Mutual Insurance Company.
Kirt Thompson
Client Advisory Services Manager

Kirt, based in Dallas, is responsible for the implementation of Specialty Comp’s Claim and Loss Control Advisory Services. Kirt’s focus is to assure that the combined resources of Specialty Comp, the insurance carrier, and other service providers are diligently applied to lower the total cost of risk to our customers. Prior to joining Specialty Comp, Kirt began his insurance career with ACE-ESIS as a workers compensation claim adjuster, and served as Corporate Self-Insured Workers’ Compensation manager for one of the world’s largest plastic manufacturers. Kirt is a licensed adjuster in all P&C lines and is a Certified Risk Manager (CRM).
Jenny Lopez-Rogina
Operations Manager

Jenny Lopez-Rogina joined Specialty Comp’s predecessor company in 2008 as Administrative Assistant. She successfully streamlined the firm’s reporting and compliance procedures and greatly improved the company’s management of its 35,000 registered online users. Shortly thereafter, upon her husband’s return from the Middle East and re-assignment to El Paso, TX, Jenny attended the University Of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) earning her MBA. She and her husband returned to Dallas in 2012 and Specialty Comp immediately re-hired her as Operations Manager. In addition to working as a small business underwriter, Jenny is responsible for the effective administration, execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of all internal business processes of the firm.
